BRENTWOOD BAY SQUADRON
A Unit of Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons
Vancouver Island South District

Poem written by BARB - Graduating Student & Valedictorian for the Class - written to the tune "My Favourtie Things" from Sound of Music.

These are a Few of the Things I Now Know

Red right returning is what we were taught
The direction of current now that must be sought
North up the west coast and clockwise it goes
These are a few of the things I now know.

Don't diss your spouse cuz everyone's watching
Especially when you're launching or docking
The yelling, the screaming, the sarcasm must go
These are a few of the things I now know.

Boating etiquette, it's not just politeness
You could be dead, even if in the rightness
Always be watchful, prepare to give way
It might save you a nasty dip in the bay.

When the fog hits
When the waves crash
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember the things I now know
And then I don't feel so bad

Safety equipment it's importance is high
Just ask Len Burton with a vast supply
Extinguishers, spare parts everything he has double
You just never know when you'll get into trouble

But if you should crash and some rocks you do hit
Take down your squadron flag before yelling OH SHOOT
Then when it seems you won't make it alive
Len Fallan is there 652-5555
He will be there with some help and a tow
These are a few of the things I now know.
